One method is not really better than the other. There is just more than one way a hitch could be installed on the 2005 Jeep Wrangler. Per the attached instructions and also as shown in the video at the 1 minute 43 second mark, the rear fascia needs to be marked to accommodate the installation of the Curt Trailer Hitch, part # C13172 on your 2014 Jeep Cherokee. You are correct that the tow hooks of your 2013 Jeep Grand Cherokee would need to be removed to install the Draw Tite Hitch part # 75699 that you referenced. The hitch attaches to the insides of your frame rails. The tow hook occupies the same area as the hitch so it would have to come off.

I may have an option for you but none of our center console's are tan in color. The only color options we have for you are charcoal, black, grey, and spice. The closest color we have to tan is going to be spice.
